Portle turns a Google Sheet you own into a portfolio view on your phone. This page describes exactly which data that involves.
The Google access Portle asks for
Portle requests a single Google Drive scope, drive.file. This is per-file access: it grants the app the ability to read and write only the spreadsheet Portle itself created for you, plus any file you explicitly hand to it.
- Portle cannot list, open or search the rest of your Drive.
- Portle cannot see your Gmail, Calendar, Photos or Contacts.
- Revoking access in your Google account removes it immediately, and your spreadsheet stays with you.
The scope is used for one purpose: creating your ledger spreadsheet, reading the transactions you write in it, and appending the transactions you record from inside the app.
What Portle reads
The contents of that one spreadsheet: your transactions, accounts, settings, reconciliation entries and rules. That is your investing ledger, and it is the data the app exists to calculate on. Portle also reads delayed market prices and exchange rates from public market data sources, using the ticker symbols in your sheet.
What Portle stores
- On your device. A cached copy of the calculated view so the app can open without waiting for the network, plus your app settings.
- On our servers. Your account identifier and the identifier of your ledger spreadsheet, so the app can find it again. If you enable rule monitoring, the server reads that same spreadsheet on a schedule in order to evaluate your rules and notify you.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share your ledger with advertisers or data brokers. Portle’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Deleting your data
Signing out removes the local cache. To remove the server-side record, write to portle@willowinvt.com and it will be deleted. Your spreadsheet is yours and is never deleted by us — revoking Portle’s access simply leaves the file with you.
Children
Portle is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the app will say so before the change takes effect.
