Portle keeps an investment ledger on your device or in a Google Sheet you own. This page explains which data the app uses.
The Google access Portle asks for
Portle requests a single Google Drive scope, drive.file. This is per-file access: it grants the app the ability to read and write only files Portle creates or that you select.
- Portle cannot list, open or search the rest of your Drive.
- Portle cannot see your Gmail, Calendar, Photos or Contacts.
- Revoking access in your Google account removes it immediately, and your spreadsheet stays with you.
The scope is used for one purpose: creating your ledger spreadsheet, reading the transactions you write in it, and appending the transactions you record from inside the app.
What Portle reads
If you connect Google Drive, Portle reads the transactions, accounts, settings, reconciliation entries, and rules in your ledger spreadsheet. A device ledger stays on your device. Portle also reads delayed market prices and exchange rates from public market data sources, using the ticker symbols in your sheet.
What Portle stores
- On your device. A device ledger, app settings, and a cached copy of calculated views so the app can open without waiting for the network.
- On our servers. Your account identifier and the identifier of your ledger spreadsheet, if you connect one, so the app can find it again. If you enable rule monitoring, the server reads that spreadsheet on a schedule to evaluate your rules and notify you.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share your ledger with advertisers or data brokers. Portle’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Advertising
If you are not a Portle Pro subscriber, Google AdMob banner ads appear on the Home and Echoes screens. Subscribers never see ads.
- Non-personalized only. Every ad request Portle makes asks for non-personalized ads. Your ledger, holdings and transactions are never shared with any advertiser.
- No advertising identifier. Portle does not use the device advertising identifier and does not track you across apps or websites. On Android the
AD_IDpermission is explicitly removed from the app. - Consent in Europe. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Portle on iPhone and iPad shows no ads at all and asks you for no consent. On Android, Portle asks for your consent through a Google-provided form before it requests any ad, shows no ad unless you give it, and lets you change that answer at any time under Settings → Ad privacy settings.
- What Google receives. To serve and measure these ads, Google may process limited device and usage data. See how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Deleting your data
You can delete your account inside the app: open Settings and tap Delete account. That permanently removes the data Portle holds for you on its servers, including your inquiries, AI usage counts and the subscription record. You do not need to write to us to do it.
Signing out, on its own, only removes the local cache. We do not delete a Google Sheet from your Drive; those are your files and only you can remove them there. A device ledger remains on the device until you delete the app or its data. Deleting your account does not cancel a store subscription: manage that in the App Store or Google Play. Children
Portle is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes and the app will say so before the change takes effect.
