Choose your tax residence first
Before reviewing returns, set your tax residence in Settings. Portle has country-specific tax views for the United States, Korea, Canada, Japan, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Choose Other for a general portfolio view without tax estimates.
This setting changes the tax estimates and reporting context shown in the app. It does not make Portle a tax adviser.
Separate trade currency from reporting currency
A US stock may trade in USD while you report your portfolio in KRW or JPY. Keep the trade currency on each row and choose the currency used for portfolio totals.
When a currency is missing, it should be treated as a data issue. It should not be silently folded into the total.
Check the Home screen after setup
After setup, confirm that cash, realized gains, rules, and missing-data notices use the intended country and reporting currency.
If they do not, correct the settings before relying on the totals or tax estimates.
